Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have my child support payment deposited into my bank account?
Yes, you can authorize the CT Department of Social Services to deposit your child support directly into your checking or savings account. Click Direct Deposit Authorization Form to access the required form.

What should I do if I receive a child support payment that does not belong to me?
You may call Customer Service at 1-888-233-7223 for assistance or you may return the payment to:

CT Child Support Processing Center
P.O. Box 990035
Hartford, CT 06199 - 0035

I have been mailing a check for my employees' child support payments and I recently arranged for a prenote transmission so the payments could be drafted from my bank account. Can I stop mailing in checks?
Ten (10) business days are required to validate bank account information before a bank draft can be scheduled. You should continue to remit a check for your employees' child support payments during this 10-business day period. You will be notified if the prenote is unsuccessful at which point you must continue to remit a check until your bank account information has been successfully verified.

Why won't the CT Centralized Child Support Processing Center accept my check?
If your bank previously returned your check because of unavailable funds (for example, insufficient funds, closed account, payment stopped), then you are required to remit all future payments by a guaranteed instrument such as a money order, cashier's check, or certified check.
